08/06/2010 - New look website!

New Look Website

Guys, the plan is to have an up to date website for the beginning of the coming season - including player bios with photos, an up to date team photo (including 'Slimmer of the Year' Kerr Manson), and an ever flowing torrent of banter via the guestbook. We'll hopefully have regular match reports, and I might also make up a strip washing rota just for good measure - you thought Guyzo was organised eh?!

Any other ideas welcome via the guestbook. Doren, keep it clean!

Thanks,

Dave

08/06/2010 - Injury Woes......for Greenview Past!

On Saturday 5 June 2010 Greenview FC past and present enjoyed a friendly match played at Toryglen Football Centre to honour Dougie Scott's twelve year contribution to the team. It was a memorable day for the old boys who notched up a 2-1 win but the victory came at a cost.

As well as the creaking bones and slo mo runs into the box (one of which managed to beat Russ Gray!) Stephen Renton broke his metatarsal bone in his foot whilst Alan Barbour tore his hamstring. Our prayers are with both players so that they may have a speedy recovery.

It was an enjoyable day and a fitting end to Doug's Greenview playing career as he notched up man of the match ahead of Reid and Waddell.

Match reports to follow.....hopefully!

01/05/2010 - Player of the year stats 2009/10

Alright Lads,

Its that time of the year again where we begin to collate the votes for player of the season. Our awards lunch will be on the afternoon of Saturday 29th  May after our final game of the season against Carluke.  Please text Stevie with your vote for player of the year. The stats detailed below are given to help with your decision.  If you’ve been involved in less than ten games this year I am afraid that you don’t get a vote!

Please also keep in mind that we are hoping to go as a team to the family service at  the church on Sunday 16th May.

Cheers,

Stevie & Guyzo

19/03/2010 - Vice Captain Dougie Scott Announces Retirement!

After ten years of pulling on a View Jersey, vice captain Dougie Scott has announced his retirement from playing due to an ongoing injury. Dougie first signed for the View back in February 1999 and has been involved in some of the high points of Greenview FC's history including the famous double win in season 2000-01 and the league winning team of season 1998-99 that took Greenview into SECL Division 1.  Despite being one of the more senior members of the team, this announcement is seen as early retirement as we were hoping that the 36 year old would be involved for a few seasons yet to come!

However, all is not lost as Dougie has undertaken a coaching role within the team on a Saturday morning and as such the experience missing from the park is gained from the sideline......replacing the skill might be a different challenge! Dougie has played in a variety of positions in the middle of the park but in recent seasons fulfilled an important role in defence.

His playing career has not been without incident as he has had to come back from several injuries including a back injury and a dislocated shoulder. However, each time hes made it back into the top eleven. This time round there is a sense of finality about this current injury.

Throughout his ten years, Dougie has played, 233 times, has scored 13 times, whilst assisting goals (directly!) 22 times and notching up 10 man of the matches.

Dougie intends to continue in the coaching role until the end of this current season but beyond that is uncertain. Perhaps if we support him enough in this current role we can hold on to him for yet another season!

A big thank you goes out to Dougie for all his efforts and commitment to Greenview FC over the past ten years.

07/09/2009 - 2 of 2 - Greenview Players Getting Soaked For A Good Cause

Three thousand people tackled the River Tummel just a little north of Pitlochry to raise funds for a mobile football pitch for Youth for Christ and health education in Papua, Indonesia.

The ‘Tummel’ experience takes you through the rapid “Sharks tooth” and “Zig-Zag” water rapids (Grade 2-3)  and nearing the end there is a two tier 18 foot drop (grade 4) to be negotiated.

Greenview FC's finest were on hand to help raise funds for this project.

07/09/2009 - Greenview Players Getting Soaked For A Good Cause!

On Saturday 28th August, following our first game of the season, some of our squad members got together to tackle the white water rapids of the River Tummel to raise money for a good cause.

Money was raised to help fund a mobile football pitch for the organisation  Youth for Christ. This mobile football pitch will be taken into local communities and used at weekends to help provide activities for youngsters.

Money was also raised to help fund health education for children in Papua, Indonesia.

07/09/2009 - Pre-Season Fitness
Now that the season is underway, perhaps we can encourage you to continue with the pre season fitness regime that started during August. As always, we will be training on Tuesday evenings throughout the season, however, please keep your own personal fitness up and try to maintain match fitness/sharpness. If your looking for a running partner then Mick Cowie is your man!

13/12/2008 - Rawnsley and McConnachie Look to Season 09/10

After deciding to take some time out from Greenview FC, both Phil Rawnsley and Kevin McConnachie have hinted that they may return to action in season 09/10.

Although these reports are speculative at the moment the View would love to see them back at training fighting for a place in the team! Rawnsley is reported to be hammering the fitness with one eye fixed on next season.McConnachie on the other hand has been busy keeping a keen eye on his young family and new job although surely hes missing his football!?

Hope to see you at some point guys!
